All About Mrs. Wicks

Welcome to my class! I started teaching English Language Development at Murray Avenue School in September 2022, but I have been teaching languages and ELD since 2009 in Philadelphia, Upper Darby and Upper Moreland. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Spanish from Syracuse University and spent about five years working in public relations and marketing before realizing that I was meant to be a teacher! I went back to school to earn my teaching certificate and Master's Degree in TESOL from West Chester University, and it was the best decision I've ever made! 

A colleague of mine once said about teaching English Learners, "The world sends us our gold," and it is 100% true. I feel so fortunate to work with students and families from all over the world, and to be able to learn about so many different cultures, experiences and perspectives. 

Outside of school, you will usually find me going for a run, reading a book, eating ice cream, and spending time with my husband, two daughters, and our dog Couscous.
