Bullying Prevention

October is Bullying Prevention Month, and at Murray Avenue, it’s a time we dedicate to reinforcing our commitment to making every single student feel safe, respected, and welcome every day.

Our mission goes beyond simply acknowledging the issue; we aim to build a truly inclusive and supportive school environment where kindness is the norm. Throughout the month, your children will be participating in a variety of engaging activities designed to teach them the importance of empathy, being an upstander, and celebrating each other's differences:

  • Classroom Lessons: Teachers are leading age-appropriate lessons that define bullying, discuss its impact, and equip students with strategies for what to do if they see it or experience it.

  • School-Wide Activities: We have several fun, community-building activities planned that focus on friendship and teamwork.

  • Spirit Days: Look out for announcements about our special spirit days! These are designed to promote unity and visibly celebrate our commitment to kindness and inclusion.

The most effective prevention happens when home and school work together. We encourage you to continue the conversation at home. Ask your child what they are learning about being a good friend or a safe upstander. Reinforce the message that kindness is a strength and that every student deserves to be treated with dignity.

Thank you for your partnership in creating a warm, nurturing, and bully-free environment for all our Murray Avenue students.

Warmly,

Mr. Erin Stroup
